Dr. Islam joined U & M Family Eyecare in 2003 after obtaining his Doctorate degree from the University Of Alabama School Of Optometry. He also obtained his B.S. degree in Biology Magna Cum Laude from UAB as well. There, he was selected one of the two most outstanding international students in the academic category. His academic achievements also include recognition by the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, and a certificate of excellence presented to him in 1995. Dr. Islam has training in primary care optometry, managing and treating ocular injuries and diseases, fitting contact lenses, low vision rehabilitation, and vision therapy. He has interned in the VA Hospital and Vision America of Birmingham, a multi-specialty ophthalmology practice. Dr. Islam enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and two kids.
